My search for today’s newspaper.

I’m somewhat of a procrastinator, and I just plain forget things a lot.
At 9:47pm tonight I looked at my BlackBerry and remembered I hadn’t gotten a newspaper from today, for a keepsake to show my kids and grand-kids later in life, of course.
I seriously just spent the last hour and twenty minutes driving around Murfreesboro, TN, getting out of my car and right back in after being defeated by empty newspaper racks literally everywhere I went.

It got to the point where I was literally brainstorming ideas of places people might not go to get their papers. I happened to pass a closed Hardee’s around 10:50pm and thought “It might be a good idea to go try those two newpaper boxes outside there.

So I drove up to where I was going to look already, the post office and a Kroger.
Both were letdowns, just like the many many other stores I had already tried.
However, I had already decided that no matter what, somehow I was going to get a newspaper with Obama’s name on the front of it.

I pulled into the Hardee’s as a short attempt of hope,
low and behold, there it was! A beautiful metal box holding a copy of The Daily News Journal!
The funny part about this though, is the fact that I literally got the very last copy from that rack. Right beside it was a box for The Tennessean, and not even kidding, somehow there was one copy of it left (granted it was folded and torn a bit), as well.

Needless to say, I happily drove away with a victory, and now gladly have the two papers laying on my bed smiling back at me. Not only did my candidate win, but I also managed to do a little work and find some proof of the history I’ve witnessed in the form of printed paper. I’m a very happy young man right now.
